Equinox is a roleplaying game set in the dark future of the war-ravaged Eighth World, published by RedBrick Limited in cooperation with FASA Corporation. The first release, Equinox: Long Shadows of Earth, is in the final production stages, and will be released by the end of this year or early 2009. This site intends to sweeten the wait and give you a glimpse of what the game will hold for you!
Equinox は戦争によって壊滅した暗い未来である第八世界を背景としたRPGで、RedBrick Limitedが FASA Corporation の協力のもとに出版します。最初のリリースは Equinox: Long Shadows of Earth で、現在製作の最終ステージに入っており、本年末か2009年の初期には出版される見込みです。このサイトはその待ち時間を楽しんで頂くとともに、このゲームがどういうものであるかをちらりとお知らせするためのものです。
RedBrick Limited は、Earthdawn 1st Edition を classic と銘打って出版している会社。主にオンデマンド出版を行っていて、FASAの旧サプリを出したり、オリジナルのシナリオ集やサプリメントを出したりと、結構元気に活動しています。
最近では D20のThe Age of Legendの製作を発表したりして、割と勢いがある感じです。あ、今年の9月で五周年を迎えたのね。
しかし Equinox。上の紹介文を読んだ限りだと、恒星間ダーク・フューチャーもののようですが。わざわざ the Eighth World って言ったり、宇宙のことを void なんて言葉で表現したり、ちょっと引っかかります*1。
最初は宇宙＋魔法で Spelljammer 方面かとも思ったんですが、それだけだとちょっと面白みにかけますよね。あと、FASA Corporation の協力ってあたりが気になる。ひょっとして Earthdawn + Shadowrun + Battletech なあたりを狙っているんじゃないかなぁ、なんて軽く妄想。
こうフェニックスホーク v.s. ワイバーンの空中戦とか、ローカストにハッキングしかけるテクノマンサー＋スプライトとか、火炎精霊で過熱爆発するライフルマンとか、リゲル(超AI) v.s. 戦列宇宙艦とか、腐敗した《連合》を背後から操るホラーとか。
